April Fools Mix

In no way am I a DJ or producer, no way at all. But I thought, as I had a spare 30 minutes, that I’d do a little mix for the page. It’s done in one go, or ‘one take’ (hence the ending), and was done completely on my iPad, with each track having been purchased for real money off of iTunes, so there’s no real copyright shit to moan about (I think), anyway, try and enjoy it. Little rough around the edges, but the tracks chosen are fucking brilliant. Old, new, but all brilliant. Goes a little shit in the middle, but being honest, I like the beginning and end. Hope it’s alright.

As a sidenote, this is in celebration of reaching 15,000 views! So thank you very much, even if you hated what you read/listened/watched on my page, you count as a view, so thanks I guess. Love to you all… Enjoy this if at all possible, and even download it for free if you fancy:

(If the sound quality is a little awful, I don’t know why, but I’ll try correct or improve it sometime)

Plan B – iLL Manors (The Prodigy Remix)

We’ve had some very special remixes of certain Plan B tracks. Some that stand out, Nero’s ‘The Recluse’ remix, Pendulum’s ‘Stay Too Long’ remix, and my favourite  16bit’s ‘She Said’ remix. I mean, there’s been some amazing remixes of some already amazing tracks. And this has put them all back a long way in the distance. The gods that are The Prodigy, remixing the hottest track of 2012 so far, what could possibly be better?

(S/O to Soundhall for the quick as lightening rip!)

Premiered on Huw Stephen’s Radio 1 show tonight, it’s a track I’ve been gagging to hear since I first heard about the concept. THE PRODIGY REMIXING PLAN B! It really won’t disappoint the vast audience it will undoubtedly reach, though! When you see ‘The Prodigy remix’, you expect something huge, and with the top reception ‘iLL Manors’ has already received, it was fair to say, this had some living up to do. Well, I think it’s pretty much smashed that living up.

The remix package, with the ‘iLL Manors’ single, is released on March 25th, with another top remix from FuntCase. And if you don’t buy it, me and Plan B will hate you.

Download Festival Defend Chase & Status Announcement!

Well, this is just ridiculous.

Download Festival‘ announced their line-up last night, which included the likes of Biffy Clyro and Metallica. It also saw a return to a UK live show for The Prodigy – with Chase & Status supporting them. Which sounds like one of the best 2 acts in a row. Chase & Status followed by The Prodigy!

But, trust the human race to find something wrong with it, again. Apparently, people who go to ‘Download‘ think Chase & Status are: “Cu*ts”, and have set up a couple of Facebook Groups to try and stop them from playing. One geniously entitled;

Bottling ‘Chase and Status’ at Download 2012

and the other;

Get Chase and status off the download line-up

these groups so far have, 83, and 15 ‘likes’ respectively. So, failing, is basically what they can be described as then?

Even so, it shows it’s insanity, by the fact that the ‘Download‘ boss had to come out to defend the duo! Saying, “Very simple. They’re a great live band. They totally fit with what we’ve done before with bands like Pendulum and The Prodigy, who wanted them to play on their day. I know they’re going to step up and win people over. I saw them perform in Hyde Park last year and they totally blew me away with the intensity of their show.”

He continued, “They even had circle pits going on and that’s what Download’s all about. To those people who are unsure, I say go and have a look and you’ll be blown away. If not, we’ve got four other stages for you to choose from. But you should go and watch Chase & Status.”

Which I think is the perfect response, it doesn’t give the tw*ats who started the groups up any more fuel, and it may encourage people to go and actually witness what an unbelievable show they put on!

Prodigy “won’t go near” Dubstep!

20120106-085459.jpg

Today marks Zane Lowe’s last breakfast show on Radio 1 while filling in for Chris Moyles. He’s done quite a good job of it, I must say! And, today, apart from announcing the ‘Sound Of 2012’ winner, Michael Kiwanuka, he also had a short interview with the busy Liam and Keith from The Prodigy, and yes, ‘busy’ does mean NEW music from them!

Firstly, they told Zane about taking the Warrior’s Dance show, from Milton Keynes, to Serbia! But they were reluctant to say that they’d take it to a load more international locations.

Then the new music. An album still seems a way off, for now. But they told Zane they had the artwork and title for the LP, and they’ve got “lots of ideas down” but they’re, “still developing the sound.” What I was very happy about hearing was the news from this quote, “all the dubstep stuff that’s going around, we’re loving it, but that’s not our game, we won’t go near it… We know what we do.” If The Prodigy had changed their ways to incorporate the trends of dubstep, I think it’d be the start of a tragically slow death for them. So, to hear they’re sticking to the ways they’ve always developed their music, is brilliant! They’re trying to find the sound that’s “the next stage of The Prodigy.” Can’t tell you how much The Prodigy have influenced me in my musical tastes, ‘Invaders Must Die’ is possibly the most influential albums in my life, it opened my eyes to a lot of other music in various genres… So to hear the promise of new music in “the first third of the year” is just massive!

By the sounds of the interview, the only UK gig they’ll be doing will be at Download Festival, so that will definitely be a special one!
